360 Degrees of Blackness
“360 Degrees of Blackness” is a live performance of 1970’s poetry and prose that has been gleaned from 360 Degrees of Blackness Comin’ At You, an anthology curated by Sonia Sanchez of authors who attended the Sonia Sanchez Workshop in Harlem. The book was found at For Keeps Bookstore located on historic Auburn Avenue in Atlanta, GA.
Performed by Atlanta collective, The Illest, it debuted on November 19th, 2019 to a sold-out show.
We offered a virtual screening of 360 Degrees of Blackness in partnership with the Auburn Avenue Research Library on July 10th, 2020. After the screening, we spoke with Dorothy Randall-Gray, Jeanette Adams, and Mamie Louise Anderson, three of the original authors included in 360 Degrees of Blackness Comin’ At You.
We pay homage to those that came before, so that we may know where we are going. The circle is complete.
